About Us

Veterinary Surgical Center (VSC) is a highly progressive veterinary surgical referral practice working in multiple locations serving all of Northern Virginia and the surrounding areas. VSC consists of four board certified surgeons, one surgical intern and a highly trained and compassionate staff. We have partnered with area referral hospitals to provide 24-hour care to our surgical patients and comfort to the owners.

Our History

Veterinary Surgical Center was founded by Dr. Anke Langenbach with the goal to provide the highest quality specialty surgery experience and care to our patients and their owners. Over the years we have grown and expanded to serve the needs of our clients and their pets, while retaining the sensitive, one-on-one relationship necessary to deliver the level of care and service on which we pride ourselves. We maintain a highly trained and competent staff and work within area referral hospitals to provide continuous patient care and accessibility. This gives us the opportunity to consult with other specialists in order to treat any condition with the most comprehensive network of care available.

Continuing education is vital to the quality and innovative veterinary medicine we practice at Veterinary Surgical Center. Our surgeons attend specialized seminars and conventions to stay abreast of the newest procedures and state-of-the-art equipment. In addition, they provide continuing education through lectures and interactive roundtable discussions with both the referring veterinary and pet-owning community. Our surgeons also lecture at annual surgery summits on a national and international level. With the ever increasing advances in veterinary medicine, we incorporate innovative techniques and equipment, as well as educate others on their uses and advantages.

Providing such continuing education is just one of the proactive means by which VSC engages all facets of the extended veterinary community. Communication amongst staff, with clients, and with the referring veterinarian is key to providing excellent all round care. VSC holds routine meetings amongst our staff and maintains a constant interface between our various locations with the most up-to-date information technology capabilities. While a patient is in our care, and for as long after treatment as is necessary, we are available to our clients via phone, email, and direct dialogue. Our surgeons provide complete histories and records to the referring veterinarian while also maintaining phone contact during a patient’s treatment.

The ultimate priority of VSC and its staff is the health and well being of our patients and their owners. As both veterinary professionals and dedicated pet owners, compassion along with progressive technical expertise are the hallmarks of our practice. Our patients remain the centerpiece of all that we do, and the focus of all that we work towards.
